LexDatabase
Why do I need to keep track of new and updated rules?
Product regulations can be amended, which results in new and updated requirements (i.e., labelling requirements). Further, new regulations are added each year which can also impact your product.
LexDatabase
The database covers the US, EU, UK, Canada and Australia
You can view upcoming regulations covered by the LexDatabase
You can view regulations (covered by the LexDatabase) that have been updated in the last 90 days
You can track regulations – we send email notifications if we detect an update.
Data / Source Monitoring
This section describes how we keep the LexDatabase updated
Step 1: Track New Regulation Versions (Updates)
Example: EUR Lex (we also track US, UK, Canadian, and Australian sources)
Each month, we manually check all monitored regulations in EUR Lex, eCFR, Legislation.gov.uk, Laws-lois.justice.gc.ca, and Legislation.gov.au. We take the following actions when we find a new version of a regulation:
- Update the LexDatabase*
- Update the Compliance Requirements Lists (CRL) entry**
*This flags the regulation as new (0 to 30 days) or recent (31 to 90 days).
**Note that not all CRL entry sources are actively monitored.
Step 2: Monitor New Regulations
Example: EU Official Journal (we also track US, UK, Canadian and Australian sources)
We also monitor official sources each month to identify new regulations that may be relevant to product compliance. If a new regulation is deemed relevant, then we add it to the database (which makes it visible in the LexDatabase and when creating Compliance Requirements Lists).
Note: Not all new regulations are added to the LexDatabase. We add new regulations on a case by case basis.
Step 3: Monthly Report
Once the monthly review is completed, you will receive a report summarising:
- Detected regulation updates
- Detected new regulation
- General product compliance news
Sources / Monitoring / Update Methodology
Please read the US / EU / UK / CA / AU Database documents for details on monitored sources, and how we manage updates in the following documents.
You can find a list of limitations and risks related to LexDatabase in this document. 1. The LexDatabase allows you to search all regulations, directives, and other compliance requirements covered by the Compliance Gate Platform. 2. The LexDatabase only covers regulations/requirements listed in these documents: 3. The LexDatabase items contain the following information: The LexDatabase can also be used to monitor new and updated regulations, directives, and other compliance requirements. Note: The LexDatabase items also appear as CRL entries when creating a Compliance Requirements List (CRL). 1. The LexDatabase can help you monitor upcoming regulations and track updates. 2. You can filter LexDatabase items: 3. You can add items to an email alert list. We will send an email notification when a new version has been detected, and the LexDatabase has been updated. Important: Email notifications can fail to be delivered due to technical errors, firewalls, or rules set by your email provider/server. You should never rely on email notifications alone to stay informed. Note: It is important that you frequently check the LexDatabase and read the monthly reports. 1. When a new version is found, we log the date of detection. This triggers the new tag for 30 days, which changes to the recent tag from day 31 until day 90. Note that a new version is detected after the source has been updated, as this review is done manually once per month. As such, these tags do not reflect the date of the new source version. 2. Email alerts are sent based on the following conditions: 3. You can find a timeline example further down in this document. 1. We review sources manually once per month. This process can take place over several days (normally during the 1st and 2nd week of each month). 2. We log the dates of the last check and update the LexDatabase when a new version is detected. 1. No, you can only find upcoming regulations that have been added to the LexDatabase. We do not claim to cover all regulations in the covered markets. 2. We continue to add regulations to the LexDatabase, which is determined on a case-by-case basis. 1. Each LexDatabase item is based on legislation texts and/or official guidance pages/documents. 2. We primarily use data from the following sources: 1. We monitor certain legislation texts and other sources to keep track of new versions of regulatory requirements covered by the LexDatabase. 2. You can learn more about monitored sources here: 3. Once the monthly review is completed, you will receive a report summarising: 4. We also monitor news and announcements concerning new regulations and compliance requirements (not already covered by the LexDatabase). This section explains the review process we repeat on a monthly basis. Phase 1: Monthly Review / LexDatabase Updates 1. Open source links in the LexDatabase to determine if a new version of the source has been published since the last monthly review. a. We generally aim to identify new versions published in the previous month Example: During the first week of April 2026, we reviewed legislation databases to identify new versions published in March. Most versions that were published in March were also dated to the same month. That said, some updated versions published that month were dated to February and May. Note: We only monitor consolidated versions as they are published on legislation databases for the listed regulations/directives. We only check sources monthly, which means that there is a delay from the publication of a new consolidated version until the point that we include it in the monthly report and also update affected CRL entries. 2. The following actions are taken in the LexDatabase: 3. We review new regulations announced in official sources dated to the previous month* *More information about the sources can be found in the US / EU / UK / CA / AU Databases 4. The monthly review is concluded with the following steps: Phase 2: CRL Entries 1. CRL entries are rewritten when a new version (update) has been detected / LexDatabase: CRL version date is updated 2. New CRL entries may be added when a new regulation is detected and deemed relevant (decided on a case-by-case basis) 3. A .csv file is downloaded from the application database to update the list of LexDatabase items / CRL entries in the following files: Phase 3: Monthly Report 1. Monthly Report is published in the Compliance Gate Platform 2. We send the monthly report email to subscribers Timeline example *All detected updates are visible in the LexDatabase from the date of publication. Email alerts are generally sent on the same date. **CRL entries are generally updated and added after the LexDatabase has been updated, but before the monthly report is published (but there can be exceptions). ***There can be a delay from the date of publication to when we send the email (as we normally do not send emails during weekends or major public holidays). You can find a list of limitations and risks related to source monitoring in this document. Please open the US / EU / UK / CA / AU Database documents to learn more about platform updates. No, we cannot guarantee that the database is always up to date as we do not implement changes in real-time. a. We check monitored regulations/directives in the legislation databases each month to determine if a new consolidated version has been published. New versions can be dated before or after the month in which they are published in the legislation database. b. We review new regulations/directives announced in the legislation databases dated to the previous month. As such, we can only detect new regulations and updates after they have been published. LexDatabase items and CRL entries are therefore only updated after sources have been updated. It is critical that you always take action based on the latest version of the relevant legislation, guidance documents, and other sources. Further, document templates are only updated during the annual audit. 1. We normally send a Monthly Report on the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of each month. 2. You can also view updates in the LexDatabase. 3. You can track regulations which trigger email notifications. The Monthly Report is a compilation of compliance news and updates from monitored sources in the US, EU, UK, Canada, and Australia. It also helps us to decide internally whether we need to update the database. The report can help you stay up to date with new and updated compliance requirements, including those that do not result in an update of the database. You will receive a report each month, for the duration of your subscription.Feature Overview
