What is included in the PPWR checklist?

This checklist covers the following areas:

Part 1: Packaging covered and exempt by the PPWR

Part 2: Who must comply with the PPWR?

Part 3: Documentation and labelling

Part 4: Manufacturer and importer obligations

Part 5: Packaging Design & Material Requirements

Parts 3, 4 and 5 are based on Article 62 of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40. Article 62 lists items that EU market surveillance authorities should check to determine if packaging is non-compliant.

We therefore used the inverse of Article 62 to create a checklist that serves as a compliance roadmap.

Note that the checklist may not cover every single aspect or requirement under the PPWR. But it does provide clarity when it comes to many of the key requirements.

Note: This checklist serves as a generalised introduction to the PPWR process. You must ultimately take action based on what is written in the latest versions of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
